NICOLAS LAMBERTSON AFRICAN WILD DOG

      The scientific name of the African wild dog is lycaon pictas.  The colors are black and yellow with a black muzzle. They roam in packs of 30 to 40 dogs in one pack. Also they have one female dog and one male dog as the leader. When they hunt they bite the prey in the butt so they don’t get hit with the horns an die. This is what they eat: gazelles, antelope an even zebras.


          The african wild dog sleeps at night and they hunt in the morning, late afternoon and evening. They live in SUBSAHARAN AFRICA. In Africa it is very hot and there are grassy plains in Africa.


 in the late 1970’s there only 7,000 in the world. Today there are only about 3,500 in the world.
Some cause of population decline of Their habit is destruction for farmland an outbreak of disease as a verminos that disease made the wild dogs get shot on sight have contributed to decline. IT’S about 5% of conservationists like grey Rasmussen started the painted dog conservation site. People in africA put signs to tell driver to watch out for Africa wild dogs. They put collars so they don’t get caught in the traps.
