Eugene De Groat  Jr .

SECTION #1
Why are jaguars on the endangered species list?
The jaguar’s scientific name is “Panthera onca”. The appearance of the beautiful jag is like a leopard because of the rings on their fur. The size of this wonderful animal is 3ft in height and 4ft and 30in long from head to tail.

SECTION #2
Jaguars are solitary animals accept when mating. Jags are big time cats & predators. Jaguars are carnivores because they eat meat. The animals that fall prey to this beautiful animal are: DEER & CATTLE, SMALLER MANIMALS. Jaguars sleep during the day and hunt at night.

Section #3

The Jaguar lives in different parts of North America. They live in: Arizona, California, Central and South America, Louisiana, Mexico, New Mexico, Texas. Their natural habitats are: forests, lowland rain forests, dry woodlands and grass lands. Also Jags are excellent swimmers, unlike other cats.
Section #4
The Jaguars population is undetermined. Estimating their population is very difficult to count.

SECTION #5
The causes of the Jaguars population to decline are: hunters killing them, hunters hunting for its beautiful fur, forests are being cleared for lumber and new cities, Also farmers killing them after the jag kills livestock. There are wildlife conservationists that are protecting the Jaguars. Laws have been made to protect this magnificent animal. Like let’s say if someone kills a Jag, they will have tons of charges on them and might be sentences 25 to life in federal prison for their crime.
