Jaguars are an endangered. The scientific of this animal is panther once. Jaguars is beautifully build and noticeably large. Females can weigh up to 200lb and the males can weigh 250lb. This animal is solitary, they hunt by themselves.
The jaguar is mainly a forest dweller and seems to prefer lowland rain forest for its habitat. It can also thrive in dry woodland and grassland, and it is rarely found in areas above 8000 feet.
Jaguars are strong swimmers and climbers and require large areas of tropical rain forest and stretches of riverbank to survive. Hunting and habitat loss due to deforestation continue to threaten the survival of these marvelous cats. WWW has worked with the government of Brazil to successfully protect large blocks of Amazon forest for the jaguar. In Peru, WWW continues to track jaguars to learn more about their habitat requirements
Jaguar’s populations once spanned from the southern United States down to the tip of South America, but today populations center on the north and central parts South america.
