Endangered species are a common occurrence throughout the world, brought on by the loss of habitat and a species inability to adapt. The African wild ass or the equips Africans is listed as critically endangered. With only one hundred in captivity, and even less in the wild. The species is endangered of being completely extinct.                                                                                                                                                                                             

The African wild ass is a hardy animal well adapted for life in the dry and airid desert. The African wild ass prefer solitary living but some have been known to form temporary groups. The African wild ass lives near volcanic landscape of the rift valley.

The  circle of life dictates that  one animal  is predator and another  be  prey, the African wild ass  falls under  the  category  of  prey, while most animals are carnivore the wild ass is a herbivore it eats only grass and forbs. It’s most active time of day is early morning.

Standing at 6.5 feet the African wild ass resembles it’s ancestors, it’s upper body is gray with a darker gray dorsal stripe. It’s underpants and muzzle are white and  it’s legs are pale and banded. It is a mix of a  donkey and in breading for 6,000 years.

The rate of extinction for the African wild ass has been steadily increasing due to severed factor. The first being, the fact that it is being hunted for food and medicinal purposes the second, is the loss of suitable habitat for them to thrive in. endangered throughout the world due in part to a rapidly decline habitat and a species inability to adapt .
