Snow Leopard




     the snow leopard scientific name is the Panthera Ucine.The fur of the snow leopard is spotted and varies in color from white or cream to pale yellow or gray. Its tail is thickly furred and can grow as long as the leopards body. Adult snow leopards can grow up to four feet in length and can weigh from 60 to 120 pounds.
Snow leopards is found in the mountain ranges of in central asia from northwestern China to Tibet and the Himalayas.




the snow leopard prefers mountain steppes and coniferous forest scrub as its habitat at the altitudes from 2000 to 6000 meters. In the winter they travel to lower forest area to find pray.



Snow leopards seems to be a solitary creatures except during the breeding season. The females gives birth to two or three cubs. they normally sleep all day and hunt at night. Their diet consists of boars, arkhar, markhor, bharal, ibex, marmots, and other small rodents and some from livestock fro farm are reports.
Snow leopards are heavily hunted for the pelts and were sold at a very high price. There bones and other body parts are valued in the traditional Asian medicine.


people are stopping illegal trade of snow leopard fur, bones, and other body parts and trying to increase the number the snow leopard population to 6000.
