Ronald Rodriguez - the tiger

The tiger (panthera tigris ) is the largest cat species , reaching a total of up to 3.3 m (11ft) and weighing up to 306 kg (670 lb). The tiger is the third largest land carnivore besides the (polar bear) and the (brown bear). Its recognizable features are the black vertical stripes on reddish-orange fur with a lighter underside. Male tigers can weigh about (400/700lbs), female tigers weigh about (260/400lbs).
Tigers are solitary hunters , which means that they usually hunt alone rather then in packs , unless the case is with a mother and her cubs , in which then they would hunt together in order to teach her cubs how to survive and catch their prey. They are also prone to hunting at night rather then day. Typically they will hide whether they can where they notice suitable prey nearby such as (boar) , (deer) and even large mammals, the element of surprise is a big part of a tigers hunting technique. When the prey is close enough , they will use their mass and strength in an attempt to keep it off balance , and will generally bite into the prey's neck without letting go until it dies of strangulation. If the prey is rather small they tend to bite into the back of it's neck rather then the side or front, until it dies of a broken spinal cord , pierced windpipe or broken jugular vein.

A tiger will spend between 16/20 hours of the day resting/sleeping. The reasoning behind the amount of hours or rest/sleep is that requires energy which interns requires food. Therefore the most active the tiger is the more food it requires. Tigers are found in a wide range of habitats in Asia and the Russian far east , increasingly fragmented and isolated populations. Less than 100 years ago , tigers prowled almost all of Asia. They could be found from the forests of eastern Turkey and the Caspian region of western  Asia , all the way to the Indian sub-continent,china, and Indochina.

and north to the Korean peninsula and the Russian Far east. Today, their range has been reduced to just 7% of it's former size. Tigers are now found in only 13 range states such as Bangladesh,,Cambodia,China,Bhutan,Cambodia,China
India,Indonesia laoPDR Malaysia Myanmar,Nepal,Russia
Thailand and Vietnam. The tigers inhabit many natural habitats such as Evergreen forests,Mangrove swamps,Tropical rain forests,Savannah's,Grasslands and rocky mountains the climate are dense due to the suns rays affecting the tigers major  surroundings. The original population of tiger species were about 100,000 before they were endangered by man. The current population of tigers living now are 4041 to 7501 individuals a total decrease of about 95%. 8 subspecies remained on earth but now three out of the eight sub-species are now in captivity. Tigers are now being threatened by poachers killing them of for their fur to receive higher pay/management,livestock and communities are overthrown and shorten due to the tigers retaliation to mans current community. and also tigers now a days are losing their natural habitats due to mans construction of resorts, hotels and homes. Project tiger , launched in 1973-2011 is one of our most successful conservation ventures in recent times, the project aims at tiger conservation in specially constituted "tiger reserves" which are represented of various bio-geographical regions falling within India. It strives to maintain a viable tiger population in the natural environment.
